Although the focus of most Belgians would be on the Belgium-Ireland EK football, our young cricket team of age group eleven years will compete with Luxembourg and Switzerland this weekend. Luxembourg Cricket Federation hosts this weekend (18th and 19th June) a special tournament for the youngest age group for Cricket playing community.
Belgium U11 National Team will represent Belgium in this international three-way tournament.
It is first time ever such a tournament is organized in Europe for this age group. The tournament will be held at the Wall*** ground, on 18th and 19th June 2016. If the weather is not favorable (raining), the tournament format will change to Indoor cricket. The organizer will ensure that the games will happen and efforts of the all players, parents, organizers and federation will not be rained-off.
All matches will be played in the twenty over (T20) Cricket format. All players are required to play in full cricket (dress) kit.
At least ten parents are joining their kids and will stay at the hotel on Saturday night. Fazil Mehmoud, National Cricket Development Officer from the Belgium Cricket Federation will lead, coach and accompany the team during the weekend.
