Antwerp Indian association launched their first Indian Premier League (IPL) format internal competition. The Antwerp Indian Cricket Club (AICC) is 150+ members strong; and is an cricket wing of the Antwerp Indian Association vzw (AIA). the association is primarily made of the belgo-indians from the Anwerp’s diamond industry.
The IPL format is first time brought to Belgium land and was successfully executed by auctioning of the 12 teams owned by different leading business owners in Antwerp diamond industry. High money is at stake; and winner takes a whopping amount home.
The three days long Anwterp IPL was inaugurated by the Excellency Indian Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and European Commission; along with opening speech from Mr. Ludo van Kampen, Deputy Mayor of the Antwerp City and Responsible for Sports administration. Many other dignitaries from local industry were also present at the ceremony.
The inauguration ceremony started with Indian and Belgium National Anthem, Speeches and flirting Balloons in the air. happened on
BCF Chairman and other Executive members were also invited and present to this internal club activity and mark the success of developing Other Forms of Cricket in Belgium. The tournament is officiated by BCF. Fazil Mammoud, the BCF Cricket Development Officer as the tournament director, will officiate all games with his team of League chairman, Umpires, Scorers and Commentator. The tournament will be recorded (live) in the CricHQ, a service extended by BCF to AIA AIPL.
