ICC/ECB ACO certified Level 1 Umpire Training – Understanding the Laws

Course Content and Objectives
You will learn the laws of cricket; techniques to manage pressure and make good decisions during the game; and to supervise and umpire a cricket match.

On successfully passing the exam at the end of this course, you will join the team of BCF Cricket Officials. You will be authorized to officiate BCF cricket matches..

Target group:

Teachers, parents, players, umpires; who

  • wishes to start umpiring in cricket matches and/or
  • have not umpired for a long time and/or
  • require/would like to update their knowledge on Cricket Laws

Attendance: There is no limitation to number of seats per club.

Cost: Free to all members of the BCF clubs and individual registrations. Lunch, Coffee, water and tea will be provided by BCF.

Material Requirements: All course material will be provided by BCF.

Reminder: Each BCF club must provide cricket officials to umpire four League matches and four T20 matches since year 2013, otherwise the club is subject to a penalty. BCF EC shall apply this condition with effect from 2015 on all BCF clubs whenever this objective is not met in 2015. Hence, it is necessary for each club to provide two qualified umpires for BCF tournaments. These conditions were also communicated on the last League General Meeting that was combined with Awards Ceremony. We request you to consider your club’s participation again this year to meet this objective.

We recommend each club to nominate at least two participants from their club this year.

Please do consider to nominate your candidates as soon as possible.

Registration requirements:
BCF have reserved course material for 16 participants, but there is no limitation, we welcome as many participants as possible.

There are special measure taken to keep quality education experience and appropriate participation. There would be considerable cost for this training programme to BCF. Please make best use of it.

Registered members of BCF Club (e.g. in CricHQ) are free. Their nomination should be supported by the club’s management, hence is considered as done by the club. Each no-show will be fined by 100 Euro per participant to the club. A participant will be considered as no-show if the participant does not appear for exam.

Candidates not originating from clubs (Individual registrations) must make telephonic contact with BCF manager to provide their motivation to attend this course. If approved,for participation. They must submit a non-refundable caution money of 100 Euros before 05-March-2015 by bank transfer.

In case of too many (unmanageable) registrations, registered members from a BCF club will have preference over individual registrations and another schedule will be drawn for the remaining candidates.
