2014 season for the Belgian Ladies Cricket
Fixtures
The Belgian Ladies team has a cracking lineup of fixtures for the 2014 season.
On the 28th and 29th of June, we travel to the Netherlands to play against the Danish and Dutch ladies teams in a triangular series which will mark end of the Schiedam Festival of Cricket held each year in the city of Rotterdam.
We will play two friendlies against France against the beautiful backdrop of the Chateau de Thoiry near Paris, on the 26th and 27th of July.
The “unofficial ICC tournament” takes place in Berlin from 6 – 9 August. The tournament has been running for 4 years, and grows in size each year. This year, 8 teams from around Europe will participate in a 4-day long T20 competition.
We will also organize some matches against the local youth teams through-out the year.
Training
In order to prepare for the season, the ladies team trains every Sunday morning at the RBCC, with the help of our dedicated coach – Fazil.
Other events
In addition to our matches, the RBCC will host its annual Ladies Day on June 7th. This event is a fun-filled day of cricket for ladies of all ages and abilities. The day starts off with a small practice session for those who have not played before. This is followed by a six-a-side tournament, and a fabulous BBQ in the evening. We encourage anyone who is interested to come and give it a try, even if you have never seen a cricket bat before! Most of the participants are beginners, and it is a great opportunity to let loose with the bat, finally understand why people bowl the way they do – even though they look ridiculous – and spend a day soaking up the sun (we should add here that no matter how bad the Belgian weather, the sun always shines on Ladies Day!).
